Chapter 1
Meet the Main Characters
🌸 Nila Aravind
Age: 20
A brown-skinned, plus-size college student who loves books more than parties. Quiet around strangers but loud, funny, and completely herself with the people she trusts. She doesn’t seek attention and believes she’s the kind of girl people easily overlook.
“Maybe being invisible hurts less than being judged.”
🏀 Adhavan Rajasekar
Age: 21
The college topper, basketball captain, and the most admired student on campus. Calm, disciplined, and respected by everyone. Despite all the attention he receives, he keeps his personal life private.
“Not every smile tells the whole story.”
đź’• Keerthi
Nila’s best friend.
Loud, dramatic, fearless, and the life of every conversation. She never misses a chance to tease Nila and somehow always knows how to make her smile.
🌼 Kavya
Nila’s best friend.
Calm, mature, and thoughtful. She’s the peacemaker of the group and always notices the little things others miss.
The Girl Nobody Notices
“Sometimes, the people who feel the most invisible are the ones with the brightest hearts.”
The first day of a new semester always carried the same energy.
Students hurried through the college gates with cups of coffee in one hand and phones in the other. Laughter echoed through every corridor. Some were excited to reunite with friends after the holidays, while others were already complaining about assignments that hadn’t even been announced yet.
The campus felt alive.
Nila Aravind adjusted the strap of her faded black backpack and stepped through the entrance with a quiet smile.
The morning breeze gently brushed against her face, carrying the scent of wet soil from the previous night’s rain. She paused for a second, looking around the familiar campus.
Nothing had changed.
The same old buildings.
The same noisy corridors.
The same crowded canteen.
And probably…
The same judging eyes.
She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and continued walking.
It wasn’t that she hated college.
She actually loved it.
She loved the library hidden behind the commerce block.
She loved the peaceful corners where she could sit with a novel for hours.
She loved listening to the rain from the classroom windows.
She even loved the smell of freshly printed books.
What she didn’t love…
…was being noticed.
Not because she was shy.
But because she knew exactly what people noticed first.
Never her smile.
Never her kindness.
Never the book in her hand.
Always her body.
Over the years, she had learned something important.
If she stayed quiet…
If she minded her own business…
People eventually stopped looking.
And honestly…
She preferred it that way.
“NILAAAA!”
Before she could even turn around, someone crashed into her from behind, nearly making her drop the novels she was carrying.
“Careful!” Nila laughed.
Keerthi wrapped an arm around her shoulder with an exaggerated sigh.
“There you are! Do you know how long Kavya and I have been waiting?”
Nila raised an eyebrow.
“I’ve been on campus for exactly one minute.”
“One minute too late.”
Before Nila could argue, Kavya walked toward them, sipping an iced coffee.
“I see the drama has already started.”
“It never stopped,” Nila replied with a grin.
Keerthi placed a hand over her heart dramatically.
“I feel so unappreciated in this friendship.”
“You should,” Kavya replied.
Nila couldn’t help laughing.
This was her favorite part of every day.
Keerthi’s endless drama.
Kavya’s perfectly timed sarcasm.
And the comfort of knowing she never had to pretend around them.
Around the rest of the world, Nila spoke only when necessary.
Around these two…
She laughed until her stomach hurt.
“So…” Keerthi nudged her shoulder.
“How many romance novels did you finish during the holidays?”
Nila pretended to count on her fingers.
“Seven.”
Kavya almost choked on her coffee.
“Seven?”
“What?” Nila shrugged innocently.
“They were all good.”
Keerthi threw both hands into the air.
“I knew it! This girl is in a relationship with fictional men.”
“They’re less disappointing,” Nila replied.
The three of them burst into laughter, completely unaware that several students had turned to look at them.
Not because they were loud.
But because seeing Nila laugh that freely was surprisingly rare.

The first bell rang across the campus.
Students began rushing toward their classrooms.
As the three friends walked through the main corridor, excited whispers suddenly spread from one end of the building.
“Oh my God…”
“He’s back.”
“I heard he won the inter-college championship.”
“Look… he’s here.”
Keerthi looked around curiously.
“Who’s everyone talking about now?”
Kavya shrugged.
“No idea.”
Nila didn’t even bother turning around.
Every college had someone who was famous.
Someone everyone admired.
She wasn’t interested.
She hugged the books in her arms a little tighter and continued walking.
She had no idea…
That at the other end of the corridor…
A tall young man had just stepped inside the building.
Surrounded by friends.
Admired by almost everyone.
Yet his attention wasn’t on the crowd.
For reasons he couldn’t explain…
His eyes drifted toward the girl walking with two friends, laughing without trying to impress anyone.
For the first time…
Adhavan Rajasekar looked at Nila Aravind.
And without realizing it…
Their paths had finally crossed.
